It focuses on his relationships with Chilean friends, co-workers, Mapuche Indians and campesino farmers. It details actual events, cultural happenings, fiestas, cross-cultural snafus, the challenges of adapting to a foreign culture and the tremendous impact politics in Chile had on a volunteer’s service. Two of the scenes, “Coca Cola is Everything and Something More” and “Day of the Dead” were previously published in magazines.
