- Agricultural Advisors In Sonsonate, El Salvador
- Date
- 1983-10-07
- Creator
- Nickelsberg, Robert
- Description
- Three agricultural advisers stand in a sugar cane field on the cooperative El Sunza in Sonsonate, El Salvador, October 7, 1983. The Salvadoran political elite viewed labor unions and land reform advocates as subversive enemies of the state and considered its leaders to be as dangerous as the guerrilla insurgency. El Salvador is a country burdened with one of the most rigid class structures in all of Latin America. Resistance to labor unions and land redistribution can be attributed to the economic oligarchy's overwhelming influence in the political and military spheres.

- Agriculture Pernambuco Agricultural Cooperatives Summer 1969 Draft
- Date
- 1969
- Description
- The Peace Corps - Pernambuco (PC-PE) Agriculture Cooperatives project description was drafted in mid-1968 to request replacements for the first FECOMIPE (Federation of Mixed Cooperatives in the State of Pernambuco) Cooperatives group (December 1967 – December 69) for on-site placement in October 1969. The document was based on six to eight months of experience with the first Pernambuco Agriculture Cooperatives group. The Peace Corps project description was a document required by the Peace Corps bureaucracy to request a group of Volunteers. Since the process of approval, recruitment and training took about nine months, a decision to request a new or replacement group needed to be made one year in advance of expected placement in the field.

- Artesian Water
- Date
- 1969
- Creator
- Rude, Ronald
- Description
- Artesian water has made the Terai Nepal’s bread basket. The constant availability of water allows for growing wheat during the dry season. Here we see water bubbling out of a patch of sand on its own. These wet patches were not that common but by simply driving a pipe a few feet into the ground water would flow. It was always cool and clean and the runoff was captured in nearby pools which were great for fish cultivation.
