American University This research examines arts management issues associated with the Art Basel organization by taking an in depth look at the management practices of Art Basel Miami Beach. The research highlights the organization's history, people involved, organizational features, its impact on the art world, and where it is headed in the future. The author used two main research strategies: first hand analysis of Art Basel Miami Beach, its organizers and participants, and in-depth research into international art fairs. Through this study, the reader will gain a greater understanding of the purpose of an art fair and how an event such as Art Basel Miami Beach is produced, as well as the impact it has on arts markets and on its host community.
