This film features images of students and traffic around American University’s campus including the MPD presence around Ward Circle. One student is shown in handcuffs while others are shown giving the peace sign in front of a bus. This footage was not selected for the final version of the Strike film.
American University Student Response to Kent State shootings (part one), May 1970
Film begins with scenes of students protesting on American University’s campus and vicinity. Students are shown washing car windows around Ward Circle, approaching vehicles and giving drivers flyers. The Artemas Ward statue is shown covered in a sheet that reads "How Many More?" There is extensive footage of the interaction between the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and students including one arrest. The film follows the students as they head downtown including scenes outside Peace Corps office on Pennsylvania Ave. The students end up on the National Mall for a large rally and concert.
American University Student Response to Kent State shootings (part two), May 1970
Film begins with a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance by the Bethesda/Chevy Chase Rescue Squad and Red Cross workers. The bulk of the film consists of scenes of students congregating on and around American University’s campus including signs for a variety of activities such as a memorial service and smoke-in and images of the MPD response including tear gas canisters spewing gas and students washing out each others eyes. Also featured is footage of a formal gathering in the amphitheater with AU President George Williams, various campus administrators, and Professor Adbul Said. Though the film includes interviews with students, the soundtrack is missing so the interviews cannot be heard.

This film shows the interior of Mary Graydon Center on American University’s Campus during the Kent State protests. Some students are seen hanging out in the lounge and on the stairs while others are sleeping on the floor in sleeping bags. This footage was not selected for use in final version of the Strike film.
